mica sheet

Mica sheet is a layered, flexible material made from exfoliated, pressed, and cut layered silicate minerals. Its core advantages include superior insulation, high-temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and the ability to be peeled into extremely thin elastic sheets. It is the mainstream insulation and heat-resistant material for high-temperature electrical appliances and power equipment.

Description

一、Mainstream material classification (2 most commonly used in industry)

1. White mica flakes (transparent/light white)

  • Temperature resistance: continuous 500 ℃, short-term 800 ℃
  • Advantages: extremely high insulation strength, good transparency, strong voltage breakdown performance
  • Usage: Capacitors, precision electronics, high-voltage instruments, optical windows, electrical and thermal insulation for household appliances

2. Gold mica flakes (golden/yellow brown)

  • Temperature resistance: Continuous 700 ℃, short-term up to 1000 ℃
  • Advantages: Higher temperature resistance than muscovite, stronger thermal stability
  • Usage: Electric iron, hair dryer, oven, medium frequency stove, high temperature heating tube, industrial heating equipment

Addendum: Synthetic mica flakes

Artificially synthesized fluorogold mica, with no impurities and a temperature resistance of 1100 ℃, has insulation and temperature resistance far exceeding that of natural mica, and is used in aerospace and high-end high-temperature equipment at a higher price.

二、Core physical performance

  1. insulation performance
Dielectric strength 40-60kV/mm, resistivity>10 ¹⁴Ω· cm, non-conductive, high voltage resistant, and non leakage; UL94 V-0 class is completely non combustible.
  2. Heat resistant and heat-insulating
The coefficient of thermal expansion is extremely small, and it does not soften or release harmful substances at high temperatures, isolating heat conduction.
  3. chemical stability
Resistant to weak acids, weak bases, oil, and water vapor, not easily corroded or aged.
  4. mechanical properties
It can be peeled off to 0.01mm ultra-thin film, which is elastic and not easily brittle; Hard mica board can be stamped, drilled, and cut for processing.
  5. light transmittance
High quality natural muscovite is semi transparent and can be used as a high-temperature observation window.

三、Types of finished industrial mica sheets

  1. Natural thin mica flakes
0.01-0.1mm native peel off sheet, used for capacitors, electronic tubes, and sensor gaskets.
  2. Hard mica board (mica sheet board)
Mica powder+resin hot pressing molding, thickness 0.1-5mm, hard and flat, can be stamped into shape:
  • Home appliances: electric heating plate, heating tube isolation sheet, hair dryer insulation pad
  • Industry: Intermediate frequency furnace, resistance heater, welding machine insulation partition
  1. Soft mica sheet (soft mica board)
Glass cloth composite bonding, bendable, used for insulation of motor coils and transformer windings (B/F/H heat resistance level).
  2. mica paper
Made of ultra-fine mica flakes, lightweight and flexible, suitable for winding cables and motor insulation.

四、Main application scenarios

1. Small household appliances (most common)

Electric irons, electric pots, hair dryers, ovens, and warm air heaters are insulated with thermal insulation sheets to prevent electric wires from leaking and scalding from the outer shell.

2. Electric Power and Electrical

Motor, transformer, high voltage cabinet, relay, power capacitor turn/phase insulation gasket.

3. Industrial high-temperature equipment

Intermediate frequency induction furnace, heat treatment furnace, injection heating coil, and thermal insulation baffle for smelting equipment.

4. Aerospace/Precision Instruments

Radar, spacecraft high-temperature insulation, optical pyrometer transparent observation window, radiation detection window.

5. other

Coating pearl filler, welding electrode, refractory material, boiler sight glass.
